The Red Aesthetic

As you know by now I absolutely love the colour red. I would not say it is my favourite colour because that I would say is blue or grey yet I adore wearing the colour red. I think it's a colour which shouts sophistication and has a sultry dimension to it. Now a lot of readers who are sceptical may read this and ask whether I am writing this post in association with the upcoming holiday- 'Valentine's Day' and fortunately I am not it just happens to coincide with the upcoming love day.

Hair
This hair just requires you to partition your hair so that you have half of it up and the other down straight. I would suggest the part that you're having up to spray some texturing spray into the roots to aid the next step. This texturing spray I would select is either the V05's Texturing Spray which at £3.00 is a great alternative to the mid range Toni & Guy Texturing spray. I adore both of these products for adding more texture into my hair. The now textured part of your hair you want to plait and embarrassingly I had to ask my Sister because I am hopeless at plaiting my hair. This is a great and sculpting your face and creating a sleek up do. The tightness of the plaits ensure that the hair will not move and will remain half up. The remaining part of your hair you want to be sleek and straight and I often will apply a serum to prevent frizz from happening soon after the straightening. This creates a glossy sleek evening look.

Make Up
Like my last beauty post. I used my palette I brought on Amazon a few weeks ago because of the great variety of shades it has.

Base
Start with your Revlon Photo-ready Primer because this will smooth the skin and prepare it for an amount of products. It also ensures that the foundation and base products will last on your face much longer. I have noticed that my contour and base products last much longer once I have primed. For my base because this was an evening look I would suggest mixing two foundations and the first being the Revlon Colourstay Foundation alongside the Benefit Flawless both these foundations are great for providing flawless coverage. The Revlon coverage is slightly heavier so you'll need the smallest amount pumped onto the back of your hand and this is the same for the Benefit. These foundations combined create a beautiful even coverage which just blends seamlessly onto the skin. The coverage is effective yet light wearing so you'd don't feel claustrophobic in your own skin. I then use the Revlon Colourstay concealer in the shade fair underneath my eyes just to highlight those bags and to give the impression that I got a better night's sleep than I did. This is optional but I would recommend that you have yourself a setting powder and for this I use the  MUA Loose Powder in the translucent shade because then we get no colour onto the skin and when applied just sets the make up in place and position. After my main base products are in place, I add in some colour and for this I take a large powdering brush from B Cosmetics and apply some bronzer from Essence just onto the skin to add a spot of colour. This golden bronzed base also compliments the red tones in the eye make up. For defining cheek bones I use my trusty Natural Collection bronzer and just apply this onto my newly created cheek bones. For contouring my nose I recommend using a thin brush perhaps the same brush you use for your eye make up as this will be much easier for getting those dimensions. For highlighters I use my newly found favourite highlighting palette from Lottie London Cosmetics called the Shimmer Squad and I take the shade 'The Good Girl' on my brow bones, cupids bow and on top of the bronzer just to great a glimmer to the cheeks.

Eyes
To prime the eyes I apply the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which is brilliant for priming the eyeshadows especially for heavy application like today. Now when I haven't been able to have this in my collection I would go for the Maybeline Fit Me Concealer as a great priming dupe because it conceals any veins on the lids and makes applying colour onto the eyes much easier. I then line my waterlines with an Essence pencil eye liner in the shade 'Chocolate Brown' which is nice brown for just defining the lash lines and provides your lash line a natural and fuller lash look. By this time your primer should have set in place so you can begin applying your red shadow. I would suggest the palette I am using today or NYX's Wild Orchid because both these are great red shades and will create the same look as today's. You want to apply this with a base shadow brush across the entire lid leaving the inner part of your lid free from shadow, however. Blend this shadow into the crease to add dimension because you want your lids to look defined and sculpted in favour of the Joker. You want to blend this until you get lovely soft edges nobody needs harsh edges on their eyeshadow. The great thing about this look is, is that it requires no other shadows which makes it great for when you're in a hurry on a night out. I then curl my lashes. Curling your lashes girls should not be skipped because this is a game changer for applying mascara and lashes. Your lashes will immediately jump out and become curlier and 'volumised' two things you're desperate for. After curling you want to add some mascara for mascara I used the Benefit Roller lash as always because this mascara is great for drawing out all of the lashes and creates a natural look because all your lashes are talking now. Now that all your lashes are out and ready to flutter you can either add lashes or keep it with mascara. I love false eye lashes because I find them to be a game changer for changing a good make up look to something 'smokin hot' if I do say so myself. For this look I used the Eyelure Naturalite False Lashes which are great as a liight lash that will just add a touch more volume to the eyes. The light weighted effect of the lashes also means that applying mascara on top of the lashes doesn't seem wrong to do. To blend the lashes into your natural lashes I would advise using a dry mascara brush to just bush through the lashes to ensure they are blending into one another and are not flapping around. I would also going in with Revlon's Colourstay Felt Tip Eyeliner and apply this onto the lash line and specifically where you have applied the false lashes.

This next step sounds peculiar but like all my ways is how I find it better to do it. I will use an alternative mascara for my bottom lashes and this is for the brush as I find using a thin brush for the lower lash line ensures light fluttery lashes that don't smudge. For my lower lash I use the Natural Collection Lash Length Mascara and have recently been using this mascara in a brown colour because I think it looks much more natural and looks better on the lower lash line than a black mascara. Looking less harsh. Now at the beginning I suggested that you leave your inner corner empty and this is because you want to take a highlighting eyeshadow into this just to add a touch of sparkle.

Lips
For lips I apply firstly a cherry red lip liner from Essence around my natural lip liner. There is nothing worse than trying to exaggerate what you haven't got so if you're not blessed with pouty lips then don't add them in. I then apply Rimmel's Kate Matte Lipstick in the shade 110 which is a cherry red that matched perfectly with the red accessories and shadows in my opinion and lighting.

And that is the red aesthetic a great evening look whether you use the red make up or the red fashion.
